  Made a purchase for Black Friday and am really happy with the product I received. The customer service is also very good and quick to respond to all my questions. I only wish they had a store in Toronto. I wouldn't hesitate to order other products in the future.

  Avoid The Modern Shop at all costs. The worst customer service I’ve ever experienced - in any industry. There are plenty of other places that sell these same brands - I’d encourage you to simply google the product you’re looking at and go with another vendor. You do NOT want to experience the frustration, financial cost, and utter disrespect that I have from the Modern Shop. I ordered two items and received zero communication about the order or their status aside from a templated thank you email without any details of my order. Two and a half months later my floor lamp arrived. The body wobbles terribly as it doesnt fully screw into the base. It requires a carpenter’s attention to tighten the base, so I sent video illuminating the issue and emailed requesting a discount to make up for the cost/inconvenience that this will require. (I ordered this online and can not take it back to a physical location, as I live in Manhattan.) The owner, Gaelyn, could not have been less helpful, less concerned with my time or money, nor more condescending and rude. She gave one option - that if I was unhappy I could figure out how to repackage this awkwardly shaped piece of furniture (I discarded the boxes as they were massive, which I informed her and she could have cared less about - said that wasn’t her problem) and that my only option was to figure out how to ship it internationally to the maker (in Denmark) and then they’d re-send me a different lamp. I requested someone please call me, and she responded, ignoring ny request and repeating the offer. I asked again for someone to please call me to discuss an alternative solution, and when she did, it was like speaking with a stubborn child. She repeatedly said the same thing and talked over me when I tried to speak. She took no reaponsibility and blamed Muuto, the maker. (Note to all you lovely and talented Scandinavian designers - beware of vendors who care little about your brand and will throw you under the bus when something goes wrong.) When I tried to come up with an alternative solution in light of the terrible inconvenience of what she’d proposed, she spoke over me and said repeatedly she’d literally hung up the phone on me. When I called back, she didn’t answer. So now, I have a faulty lamp and my only option to fix it will cost me continued frustration, time and money. I plan to tell every industry contact I have to avoid this business at all costs, and hope that by sharing my experience in all forums like this, that it will help others avoid the tremendous frustration and negative experience I’ve had. This is the most atrocuoious customer service - I honestly don’t understand how this place is still in business. All that to say, there are plenty of other places where you can find these lovely brands - I’d strongly encourage you to do so. Otherwise, be warned of what you’re getting yourself into if you choose to purchase an item from this terrible store. If I could give zero stars, I would.

  A must for any Scandinavian design enthusiast. Very nice selection of designers and variety pieces, but service a tad off putting, no need to be so cold.

  I just got an email from The Modern Shop, asking me to write a review to receive a discount coupon... so here it is. I ordered a product online for Christmas present, inquired about the ETA, which I was told it will arrive in 2 weeks. After a few days, I receive an email the order is cancelled due to out of stock. ????? Not reliable, but good looking website though.
