Rude bouncers refusing to give us our coats in december to go outside, said we had to wait until the end of the night, every encounter they were disrespectful.

The point of this review is to shed some light on an appalling turn of events that occurred at the bar last night around 12am. I was on the dance floor in front of the DJ booth with my friends and my brother was on the elevated dance floor right beside us with some of his friends. He shifted through the crowd to get my friends and my attention so he just walked towards the railing of the platform, on his way to the edge of the railing, an older lady, probably in her late 40’s, was dancing there and my brother bumped into her accidentally, she proceeded to lose her mind and grabbed my brother by the throat, I know what you’re thinking, how insane that someone would even try to choke someone then take into account the age difference, my brother is 19. My brother turned to her and called her names, which admittedly he shouldn’t have provoked her more but he was intoxicated and she tried to choke him, I think anyone would’ve reacted the same, so after calling her names he walked away through the crowd to come down and see us, then as he walked away she chased after him and grabbed him by the hair, at the same time her husky 6 foot something boyfriend came out of nowhere and tried fighting my brother because of the altercation, which it seemed like she had handled especially because my brother would not lay his hands on a female.. even after they try choking him. So after all of this those amazing bouncers of whiskey bar finally decided to hop in and help the situation... took them long enough.. by the time they did they had no idea what was going on and only listened to the woman’s side of things, which was my brother bumped into her and started calling her names... needless to say they kicked him out immediately, I was trying to speak for him as my friends and I witnessed the altercation happen, however the bouncers totally disregarded what I said and proceeded to LET THE WOMAN STAY.... I could not have been more appalled. One of the bar staff could clearly see I was displeased with the course of everything and asked if I was alright and offered me a shot in light of everything, which I do admit was very kind, the bar staff definitely picked up the slack the bounce staff left behind last night for sure. However at that point the sour taste was in my mouth and the only way it would’ve left is if she too got kicked out as well... normally when I’ve seen bar fights happen before, everyone involved in the altercation normally has to be kicked out so neither person is a danger to anyone else in the bar. My brother who did nothing but be a little clumsy and intoxicated got kicked out, while the woman who tried to choke him and proceeded to pull his hair and her boyfriend remained comfy in their bottle service booth. Now to me it sounds like there was a lot of favouritism and zero justice. I don’t know these people and what their relationship is with The Whiskey Bar, but I’m appalled I cannot say it enough, the fact that something like this would happen in the first place is insane but then on top of that the bar neglected that fact that this lady had just tried choking someone and let her continue to walk around that bar, what if she had snapped on another person like that and things turned out worse.. the bar is liable for all of this from serving patrons alcohol to monitoring drunk patrons, so why after so many years did they all of a sudden drop the ball.

Overcrowded and people were physically pushing people around, not a good scene at all.

I have been to “The Whiskey Bar” several times while living downtown Ottawa for the passed four years, and I must say usually I have a good time there, other than the bouncers who usually look like they hate their lives and they’ll bite your head off if you even remotely smile at them, like are you even human?

Good music, super packed. Really long wait to get in, bouncers pull people out of line and ask them to float them some cash to skip the line. Still have to pay cover and coat check when you get in. So $20 just to get into the dance floor.

A great spot downtown to go with friends to chat, eat some great food and relax. The ambiance is very pleasant and the staff is very helpful and professional.

My experience was absolutely horrible! There was a long line to get in.. As we are waiting, a group of twelve guys ran towards us ( us only being a group of four peoples ) and starting a fight. We ran to the front of the line and tried to get help from the bouncers to simply get pushed back into the fight.. when asked why the bouncers reacted like this their answer was you're not even part of our bar, just walk away! .. I WAS WAITING IN LINE TO GET INTO YOUR BAR.. My advise.. don't ever go here.. you are NOT safe.. the bouncers will NOT help you.
